February 2019 The Atlantic Province of New Brunswick, Canada announced the re-opening of its popular Business Entrepreneur nomination programme. New Brunswick invites investors with CAD$600,000 in net worth to submit an expression of interest to the province. The Expression of interest online intake system is a system that enables interested candidates to expose their intended business activity to the province’s immigration office. If the proposed business activity was interesting to the province, and certain criteria are met by the investor, a formal invitation to submit a complete application for provincial nomination is issued and is sent to the client. More criteria are required

Candidates are expected to make a conditionally refundable CAD$100,000 deposit with the province prior to nomination. An investor may be able to claim this deposit if s/he invests a minimum of CAD$250,000 in the business they proposed initially and meet other obligations. More conditions must be met.

This route to Permanent Residence in Canada is one of the very few programmes left where Permanent residence is granted before an investor establishes his/her business in the province. Most of Canada’s provinces are now geared towards getting investors into the province on a Work Permit, observing the commitment to establish a business and then, granting nomination.
